A word clod made up from all the topic titles

Increasing technology is becoming an intrinsic part of teaching and Learning in Higher Education. At the University of Leeds there is a range of institutional systems which available to our teaching staff. This section provides guidance on their use, signposting the Universities support sites along with other useful resources.

In addition to the technical ‘How to’ for these systems this section will also cover the wider pedagogical topics of Blended and Technology Enhanced Learning.

Institutional systems

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE): Blackboard

The VLE allows tutors to create and deliver a wide range of online module materials and tools to support your learning and teaching methods. Our VLE is based on Blackboard software.

Lecture Capture and Personal Capture

The University has made a significant investment in tools for lecture capture, desktop capture, video and desktop conferencing and interactive sessions.

Multimedia Management Platform

As part of the Digital Learning Programme the University has invested in a multimedia management platform called MyMediasite.  The multimedia management platform will be a single multimedia repository to support the creation, storage, management and publication of the University’s audio and video assets. This has been launched under the name VideoLeeds.

Interactive Session

Interactive sessions software is an advanced version of desktop video conferencing that provides the additional functionality to prepare, run and manage interactive classroom sessions, research meetings, part-time and distance learning modules, virtual open days and staff training sessions.
