Website: www.zotero.org

Cost: Free

Availability: Desktop app available on Mac, Windows and Linux.

What is it?

Zotero is a reference manager app which allows you to collect sources e.g. PDFs, images, audio etc. to be stored in one place. Not only can these sources be shared with groups, but Zotero can automatically create citations from these documents that you can then use in your own work.

How does it work?

Zotero can recognise articles in a web browser so by simply clicking an icon you can easily add files to the Zotero library to be shared and cited.

What are the implications for teaching, learning and assessment?

Zotero is a useful tool for referencing and inserting citations taking the stress out of the tedious job of referencing your work.
