NUS Assessment and feedback benchmarking tool

Screenshot of part of the documentThe ‘Assessment and feedback benchmarking tool’  is part of a series of publications (including ‘Organisation and Management’ and ‘Learning Resources’) from the National Union of Students aimed at improving the quality of feedback and assessment in education.

In this the NUS lay out ten principles of effective feedback, mapped against them are five categories/scales from ‘First Steps’ through ‘Developing,’, ‘Developed’, ‘Refining’ and finally ‘Outstanding practice:Partnership’. These descriptors give a clear idea of what student expectations on feedback are and where particular scenarios fall on the continuum.

For anyone involved in assessment and/or feedback this is a very informative document, and being only two pages very accessible.
